As an educator Miss Whitney Littleton brings her experience in teaching to the Truth about Drugs presentations in South Texas. Ms. Littleton believes that "each child is a unique individual with the potential to succeed academically, socially and emotionally; but I’ve seen how drugs & alcohol can hinder achieving that potential. Drugs & alcohol impede learning; and Drugs kill creativity!"
After earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Education from Mercer University and a Masters of Science degree in Post-Secondary Education from Troy University.
Whitney taught middle school youth for 6 years. Whitney, a Certified Narconon Drug Educator, has a passion for working with "at-risk" youth and delivers the Truth about Drugs lecture series to her students at Narconon’s Community Out-Reach Program.
Whitney offers these Caregiver Tips with regard to ensuring your child stays drug free:
- "Talk to your Kids!" And Listen to them. Let them know your position on drugs & alcohol.
- Avoid scare tactics, a simple "Just know that I don’t want you doing drugs and drinking alcohol; I want you to stay healthy and alert and successful" will go a long way.
- Take time at a family meal or on a walk to find out your child’s goals; what does he/she see in their future? Teach them that drug & alcohol can have a negative effect on their goals.
- Know the 4 "W’s"; who, what when & where; get a phone number where you can reach your child, know the parents of your child’s friends.
- Keep your medicine cabinet locked at all times. When children come to visit your home take some time to "child proof" it; treat alcohol and medicines like poisons and protect your young visitors from them.
Whitney was recently invited to give Truth about Drugs lecture series to Parental Involvement groups in the Rio Grande Valley this school year and is also giving Presentations at the nearby Juvenile Detention Center.
